Matt Darcy: You guys are about to hit the road once again for "The Free Shit Tour", what areas are you rolling through?
Frank Fanelli: We've been destroying the East Coast for the past few years, so we figured that it would be awesome to do a FREE SHIT TOUR to give back to our fans in NY, PA, KY, TN, AL, FL, SC VA & NJ. Just a short 18 day run for the holiday time.
MD: Want kind of free shit are you giving away? It's not the ol' "poop in a ziplock" gag is it?
FF: You can certainly expect a sampler with 2 brand new TWWK tracks in there, a shirt, some posters & maybe a fake mustache or two! Also, our good friends at Atticus & Creep Street clothing provided some goodies for the tour as well. Some of these things will be free for all, but some will have to work for it. We may have a nice dance contest or wrestling match for the good stuff!
MD: Awesome, brings even more disappoint you fellas are not stopping in Boston or New England at all for that matter. I cannot join in on the antics until the Stillborn Fest hitting Hartford in December. Last time I remember you guys were back around our way was in June/July and it was way up in Manchester, NH. Why no Massachusetts dates?
FF: Definitely can't wait to hit the North East again on Stillborn fest. Last year was utter madness! Unfortunately, we've only played MA 3 times in our entire 6 year career! For whatever reason, we've never been able to get booked there. Whether its a lack of promoters, or bad timing.. It just never seems to work out. We would love to come back sooner then later though!
MD: So with this new material coming out, can we all expect similar styles of "To The Wolves" or can we expect some difference?
FF: So far, we're around 5 songs deep into writing this next record. I already feel like their is a natural progression with these songs. After touring for the past 9 months after releasing "To The Wolves", you really start to get into the groove with the bands sound & I feel like we've grown as musicians. I'm definitely excited for our friends and fans to hear what we're creating because I'd compare it to "To The Wolves" on speed!
MD: Any expectation of when you'll hit the studio or are you guys taking your time and when ready, will decide when to enter?
FF: Tim & myself pretty much just gave TWWK a face lift by getting 3 brand new members. We're kind of using the Free Shit Tour & Stillborn Fest as a test to see how everyone works together. Once all of that is 100% settled, we'll be diving head first into the writing process to insure a Spring release. Well, in a perfect world, that's what I'm hoping for!
MD: I saw a few posts regarding member changes, what's the story behind that?
FF: In all honesty, what it really comes down to is how well you and your band members get along on the road. For the last 3 years, TWWK has been going full speed all over the USA. If we're all butting heads constantly, it really takes a toll on everyone's attitude. Thankfully, Tim and I made the decision to keep things flowing because we've come too far & fought way too hard to quit now.
MD: Right on! Back on the music subject, will this new release be a sophomore installment with Stillborn Records?
FF: I believe that's the plan. Still going over things, but [Jamey] Jasta and the Stillborn crew helped us big time with the last release, so we're excited for round 2!
MD: Well I can't wait to hear the new stuff! Any last words to end this little chat?
FF: All I could ever ask for from all of the metal & hardcore fans out there is to keep on supporting hardworking DIY bands. I don't think many people understand how hard it is to stay afloat in this scene, so we'll keep staying hungry & pissed if everyone out there keeps supporting! Thanks so much for your time!
PS: I did this interview while eating pizza. It was awesome!
MD: Thanks a bunch Frank for taking the time to talk, hope you didn't get your keyboard too greasy from the pizza!
